F5 Certification Tracks and Learning Paths
F5 certifications span multiple levels and technologies, which can be confusing at first.
This page outlines the structure of the certification tracks and how to get started based on your experience and role.
If you are already partway through a certification track, the courses can be used to reinforce knowledge, deepen practical understanding, and support progression to the next level.
F5 Certified Administrator (2xx)
Administrator-level courses cover the core skills required to install, configure, and operate F5 platforms in real environments. This is the starting point if you’re new to F5 or want a solid operational foundation.
You’ll learn the essentials of setup, traffic handling, and day-to-day troubleshooting skills that carry forward into every specialist and expert track.
Note: The Administrator level includes two separate tracks: BIG-IP and NGINX. Choose the track that matches the platform you work with.Â
F5 Certified Technology Specialist (3xx)
Specialist-level courses focus on individual BIG-IP modules such as LTM, DNS, ASM, and APM. Each course goes deeper into a specific technology area and is designed for engineers who already have the Administrator foundation.
These courses allow you to specialise based on the modules you work with in production, and to build deeper configuration and troubleshooting capabilities.
Note: LTM is typically the first specialist course, as it underpins how traffic flows through BIG-IP.Â
F5 Certified Solution Expert (4xx)
Solution Expert courses operate at the architecture level and focus on designing complete, end-to-end F5 solutions across complex environments.
These courses go beyond individual modules, bringing multiple BIG-IP capabilities together into cohesive designs that span security, access, traffic management, and cloud platforms.
